Big Heavy World is currently seeking an Assistant in Documentary Production Intern. This position will allow interns to practice and improve their skills with audio and visual technology, organization, and problem solving. Interns will be involved in projects such as:

  • Editing audio and visual clips as a production assistant to the filmmaker

  • Gathering and documenting relevant information and artifacts

  • Securing permissions and sponsorships for film content

Over the course of your internship, you can expect to become immersed in the history of the famous 242 Main all-ages venue, communicate closely with both film producers and contributors, and gain deep knowledge of grassroots documentary development.

All internship positions are unpaid, supervised positions for college credit. Applicants not seeking college credit or who are not accepted into the intern program are encouraged to apply as a volunteer. Interns and volunteers are expected to engage with projects both as part of a team and independently; to show commitment to the BHW ethos by attending crew meetings and pledging to uphold our substance-free policy on the BHW premises; to demonstrate professionalism when representing BHW; and to maintain regular and respectful communication with all collaborators both inside and outside of the BHW team.
