Kirsti Blow joined host Tom Proctor on ‘Rocket Shop‘, Big Heavy World’s weekly local Vermont music radio hour on 105.9FM The Radiator. Catch up with her at facebook.com/kirstiblowmusic

Big Heavy World was psyched to finally have Kirsti Blow come perform live on Rocket Shop after the last two attempts were postponed due to inclement weather. Kirsti is a small-town girl from Glens Falls, New York, who picked up a guitar for the first time at age 15, and started performing live shortly after. She is most familiar with performing in and around her hometown, but has also performed quite a bit in Burlington these past four years while she has attended the University of Vermont. Her current musical inspirations are singer song-writers such as Neil Young and Eliot Smith, but her musical roots are in other classic artists like The Grateful Dead, The Rolling Stones, and The Beatles. Altogether, her music has a smooth, bluesy vibe with an element of folk.

Kirsti is super personable and easy-going, and we loved hanging out with her in the studio before and during the show. She claims that she does not aim for a certainlookoraesthetic, and is as honest and authentic as possible with herself in terms of her music and stage presence. She also added that she enjoys connecting with her audience, which became very evident during the show. Her powerful lyrics mixed with her mellow sound had everyone in the room silent and motionless, not wanting to miss a single beat. Her music has the type of sound that makes you want to close your eyes, and reallytake it all in.Although Kirsti mentioned that performing makes her rather nervous, she could have fooled us with her calm, collected and confidentcomposure.

To hear more of Kirsti Blow, come see her live this Friday, March 1st, at Half Lounge in Burlington! Also feel free to check out some of the songs she has recorded on soundcloud (out of her repertoire of 50+ originals)!
